Towson Tigers
Towson went 10-6 to start the year, losing to Fairfield, Clemson, Navy, Northern Iowa, Bryant and Charleston along the way. The Tigers are 6-1 in their last seven outings and coming off a win over William & Mary.
In the Saturday game versus the Tribe, the Tigers managed a 49-40 first-half run. Towson hit a 43-33 advantage in the second half and won it 92-73. Cameron Holden was the leading scorer on the team with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Hofstra Pride
Over on the Hofstra side, they lost to Saint Mary’s, Middle Tennessee, George Mason, Purdue, UMass, South Florida and NC A&T in their first 16 outings. The Pride are 6-1 in their last seven as well and beat Charleston in their last game.
Matched up against Charleston on Saturday, the Pride trailed 46-44 going into the second half. Hofstra posted a 41-35 run from there and took the win 85-81. Aaron Estrada led the team with 25 points and seven boards.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably take a stab on Hofstra here. I could also go either way on this one. We should have a good matchup on our hands. The last time these teams met up back on January 16, the Tigers took a 68-47 win at SECU Arena. Towson didn’t have a ton of issues in that one, as Hofstra had a rough offensive outing. That’s the only game the Pride has lost in their last seven outings; they’ve hit 70 or more points in the other six games. I like Hofstra to rebound from their bad showing and get some revenge in this rematch.
