Holy Cross vs Colgate Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/18/23

The Colgate Raiders and the Holy Cross Crusaders meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Hart Center. Colgate is 12-7 overall this year. The Raiders beat Bucknell in their last game. Colgate Raiders 

Colgate went 7-7 over their first 14 games with wins over Brown, Wells, Syracuse, Monmouth, Hartford, Binghamton and Loyola MD. The Raiders have beaten Lehigh, Navy, Army, Boston U and Bucknell in succession since then. 

In the Bucknell matchup on Saturday, the Raiders took a slim 34-32 lead into the second half. Colgate posted a 37-33 run from there and won it 71-65. Tucker Richardson was tops in scoring with 23 points and five rebounds. 

Holy Cross Crusaders 

Over on the Holy Cross side, they were 4-10 after 14 games, beating only Dean, Colby-Sawyer, Central CT State and Bucknell. The Crusaders are 2-3 in their last five outings, losing to American, Lehigh and Lafayette. 

Matched up against Lafayette on Saturday, the Crusaders trailed 35-26 at the break. Holy Cross didn’t get any closer on a 27-22 second-half deficit and lost 62-48. Gerald Gates led the team on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with Colgate in this one. The Raiders have won six straight games and they’re scoring well in that stretch. Colgate has hit 71 or more points in all six of those outings and should post a nice total here as well. As for Holy Cross, they haven’t cracked 63 points in three straight games—going 1-2 in that time. So long as Colgate keeps their run going I don’t see Holy Cross having the firepower to keep pace in this matchup.
