We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Houston Christian vs Southeastern Louisiana pick.
Southeastern Louisiana Lions Betting Preview
Southeastern Louisiana didn’t start off the year so great, but to their credit they’ve been better since the year flipped over to 2025. The Lions posted a 6-8 run in their first 14 games with wins over only William Carey, LA Monroe, North Dakota, Tulane, Grambling, and Loyola New Orleans. The losses otherwise during that time were versus UAB, Mississippi State, Wyoming, Gardner-Webb, Nicholls, Louisiana, McNeese, and Texas A&M-CC. A win streak came next over UT Rio Grande Valley, New Orleans, Stephen F Austin, Northwestern State, East Texas A&M, and Incarnate Word. Following a loss to Houston Christian the Lions recovered with wins over New Orleans and Lamar for a 14-9 overall run through the first 23 games of the season.
In their matchup with Incarnate Word on Saturday, the Lions were in front 28-26 by the break. Southeastern Louisiana kept it going on a 43-40 run the rest of the way and ended up winning 71-66 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jakevion Buckley with 27 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals alongside one block in 33 minutes. Sam Hines added 18 points with 11 boards for a double-double, and Kam Burton led the bench scoring 12 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
Houston Christian Huskies Betting Preview
Over on the Huskies’ side, they’ve followed a similar trajectory in the win column this year, starting off rough but improving since early January. Houston Christian went just 4-10 in the first 14 outings with wins over Rockford, Avila, East Texas A&M, and LA Monroe. Otherwise, it was losses to Texas, Creighton, Rice, Eastern Michigan, Northern Arizona, UTSA, Northwestern State, Texas A&M, North Texas, and Lamar in that time. The next eight games were a 5-3 run with losses to McNeese, Incarnate Word, and Nicholls State among wins over Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, New Orleans, and Southeastern Louisiana. That gave Houston Christian a 10-13 overall run through their first 23 outings of the 2024-25 campaign.
Matched up against New Orleans in their Saturday outing, the Huskies were up 42-31 going into the second half. Houston Christian finished on a 39-37 run the rest of the way during an 81-68 win. Tops in scoring was Julian Mackey with 27 points, three boards, one assist, and two steals. Bryson Dawkins wasn’t far behind with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists. D’Aundre Samuels chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Houston Christian vs SE Louisiana Prediction
I’ll probably try Southeastern Louisiana in this one. In their Thursday matchup, the Lions kept their streak going with a five-point win over Incarnate Word. That makes 71 or more points in each of the last five wins—over a six-game span.
When these teams last met up back on January 27, Southeastern Louisiana took a 70-62 loss at home. Overall the Lions didn’t play terribly but did get outrebounded mildly 31-29. The 3-point shooting (3-of-16 for 18.8 percent) and foul shooting (11-of-19 for 57.9 percent) were what really killed the momentum. The Lions also scored 16 points off 13 Houston Christian turnovers, but Southeastern Louisiana won’t be able to rely on mistakes this time in the road matchup; they’ve simply got to shoot better. Provided that goes well, I like the Lions to get a little revenge on Monday. It’ll be tricky with the Huskies playing well lately and coming off a solid win over a struggling team, though. Should be a good game to watch.
