The Memphis Tigers and the Houston Cougars meet Saturday in college basketball action from Dickies Arena.
Memphis enters this AAC Tournament matchup at 16-7 overall. The Tigers took out UCF in tourney action on Friday. As for the Cougars, they’re 22-3 this year. Houston posted a tournament win over Tulane on Friday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Memphis posted a fairly sketch 6-5 record over their first 11 games this year, but since then they’ve only lost two games. The Tigers have gone 7-1 over their last eight appearances and moved on with a win over UCF on Friday.
In the 70-62 tournament win over UCF on Friday, Memphis held a 32-28 advantage at the half and drove on to a 70-62 result. Topping the team was DJ Jeffries with 17 bench points, three rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Houston side, they’ve had quite the impressive season so far. The Cougars have won five straight games. In that stretch they’ve taken out Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, South Florida, Memphis and Tulane.
In the Friday tournament win over Tulane, Houston jumped out to a 44-23 edge in the second half to secure their 77-52 result. Leading the way was DeJon Jarreau with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double.
The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 5-0 ATS in their last five neutral-site games. Houston is 19-7 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games and the under is 23-9 in their last 32 as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last four as a favorite and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. Memphis is 11-1 ATS in the last 12 overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Houston. The Cougars have been on a nice run over their five-game win streak, posting 77 or more points in four of those games. The last time these teams met up was a tense 67-64 Cougars win, and I think this one will be equally competitive. I like Houston slightly better on an eventual cover, though. Should be a good one.
