Howard vs MD-Eastern Shore Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/13/23

The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks and the Howard Bison meet Monday in college basketball action from Burr Gymnasium. MD Eastern Shore is 14-9 on the season so far. The Hawks lost to Norfolk State in their last game. As for Howard, they’re currently 15-10 after a win over Delaware State on Saturday. Maryland Eastern Shore

The Hawks hit a .500 stretch out of the gate this year, going 8-8 over their first 16 outings. Since then MD Eastern Shore is 6-1 with wins over Delaware State, South Carolina State, NC Central, Coppin State, Morgan State and Regent VA. 

In the Norfolk State matchup on Saturday, the Hawks took a 41-32 deficit into the locker room. MD Eastern Shore hit a 41-35 comeback from there but still lost 76-73. Da’Shawn Phillip was the top team scorer on 20 points in 29 minutes. 

Howard Bison

Over on the Howard side, they had their ups and downs to start out the year, going 8-10 through 18 appearances. The Bison have beaten Norfolk State, Morehouse, Morgan State, Coppin State, NC Central, South Carolina State and Delaware State since then. 

In the Delaware State game, Howard blew a 31-28 halftime lead and needed overtime to decide the game. After 11 more points the Bison emerged with an 86-85 win. O’Koye Parker was the leading team scorer with 24 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with Howard in this one. We should have a pretty good matchup on our hands regardless. The Bison are looking good during this seven-game win streak; they’ve hit 71 or more points in each of those outings and 86 or more in six of them. Howard has some extra incentive for revenge in this one as well; the last time these teams met up on January 9 at Hytche Athletic Center, the Bison took an 82-73 defeat. I like Howard to bounce back in this one and power out a cover. Should be a fun game.
