The Montana Grizzlies and the Idaho State Bengals meet Thursday in college basketball action from Reed Gym.

Montana enters this one at 9-12 so far. The Grizzlies are coming off a pair of losses to Eastern Washington. As for Idaho State, they’re 12-7 this year. The Bengals took out George Fox in their last game on February 15. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Montana has been flirting with a .500 record for much of the season, but haven’t quite been able to get over the hump. The Grizzlies are just 1-4 in their last five games, falling to Portland State, Weber State and Eastern Washington in that stretch.

In the 90-76 loss to Eastern Washington on Saturday, Montana’s Josh Bannan put up 20 points with nine rebounds and two assists. Robby Beasley added 16 points, and Cameron Parker doubled up on 12 points and 10 assists.

Over on the Idaho State side, they started out the year on an 0-4 skid but have only lost three more games since then. Over their last four outings, the Bengals have beaten Northwest University, Idaho (twice) and George Fox.

In the 84-59 win over George Fox on February 15, Idaho State’s Austin Smellie put up 19 points with five rebounds and three assists. Brayden Parker added 15 points with five rebounds, and Malik Porter doubled up on 11 points and 10 boards.

Idaho State is 6-21-2 ATS in their last 29 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. The Bengals are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven as an underdog and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss. Montana is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS loss and the over is 4-0 in their last four overall.

PICK: I’m going to take Montana here. The Grizzlies have gone just 1-3 in their last four games, but they’re still scoring pretty well. Montana has 76 or more points in each of their last four, but they’ve also given up 90 or more in each of their last three. If the Grizzlies can turn the screws on defense a little better here I think they’ll be in a good spot for a cover.
