Loyola has remained a very consistent team all year. The Ramblers have lost consecutive games just once. That said, Loyola is just 2-2 in their last four with wins over Northern Iowa and Valparaiso in between losses to Bradley and Drake.
In the Drake game on Saturday, the Ramblers were outscored 31-43 by halftime. Loyola got better from there on a 45-40 run but still lost 83-76. Leading scorer Lucas Williamson put up 27 points with six rebounds and three assists.
Over on the Illinois State side, they posted an 8-5 start to the year but haven’t been able to win consecutive games since late December. The Redbirds are on a three-game losing streak right now, falling to Indiana State, Northern Iowa and Bradley.
n the Bradley game, the Redbirds were up by one point heading into the second half. Illinois State was outscored 32-41 from there in a 72-64 loss. Antonio Reeves led the team with his 20 points, three rebounds and two assists.
The Redbirds are 6-2 ATS in their last eight at home and 0-6 ATS in the last six Monday games. The over is 4-1 in Illinois State’s last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Ramblers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 overall. Loyola is 18-7-4 ATS in their last 29 Monday games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Loyola here. The Ramblers had a bad second half in their last outing, but otherwise they’ve played pretty well over the last half-dozen games. Loyola has scored 68 or more points in six of their last seven outings and shouldn’t have much trouble putting up offensive numbers versus the Redbirds.
The last time these teams met up, Loyola bagged a 78-64 win at home. I don’t think the outcome will be too much different in this rematch.
