Over on the Illinois side, they opened up versus Jackson State last Monday in their first game of the season. Illinois vs Texas Tech Prediction

I’ll lean toward Texas Tech here, but you could make a case either way. Each team had a couple of pretty easy matchups to start the season, and now the difficult games begin. The Red Raiders made short work of Sam Houston in their latest win, notching 50 percent shooting from the field and 42.9 percent from 3-point range. Texas Tech had a 38-31 advantage on the boards but did get outscored in the paint 36-30 by the Bearkats. The 28-of-43 (65.1 percent) from the line could have been a bit better as well. The Red Raiders have scored exactly 98 points in each of their first two games this year.

As for Illinois, they got past Florida Gulf Coast thanks to 55.4 percent shooting, a nice 30-of-34 from the line (88.2 percent) and 51 rebounds in their latest win. The 48-28 in the paint was a nice stat as well. The Illini have scored exactly 113 points in each of their first two games, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a hefty total here. That said, I like Texas Tech a little better cover-wise. Should be a really fun game to watch, though.
