The Drake Bulldogs will travel to the Hulman Center to take on the Indiana State Sycamores this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Drake Bulldogs won their 3rd straight game and improved to 16-6 on the season after defeating the Loyola (CHI) Bulldogs, 77-68, this past Sunday. Drake led by a 32-31 margin at halftime and was able to pull away in the 2nd half for the victory after taking a 63-50 lead with 4:45 left in regulation. Drake shot 41.8% from the field & 42.9% from beyond the arc while allowing Loyola (CHI) to shoot 49.1% from the field & 26.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was D.J. Wilkins who had 20 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Drake is averaging 75.4 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 36.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Drake has been led by Tucker Devries (13.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.0 spg), Garrett Sturtz (11.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.3 spg), Roman Penn (10.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.4 apg), & D.J. Wilkins (10.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.2 apg).

Defensively, Drake is allowing their opponents to an average of 66.9 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 3.0 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The Indiana State Sycamores dropped to 9-11 on the season after being defeated by the Bradley Braves, 67-52, this past Sunday. Indiana State struggled on the offensive end against Bradley and could not fight back after the Braves took a 47-28 lead with 13:39 left in regulation. Indiana State shot just 34.0% from the field & 20.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Bradley to shoot 41.0% from the field & 17.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Sycamores was Micah Thomas who had 17 points & 5 rebounds.

On the season, Indiana State is averaging 72.4 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Sycamores are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Indiana State has been led by Cameron Henry (14.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.1 spg), Cooper Neese (14.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg), Micah Thomas (11.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.7 apg), & Julian Larry (5.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.5 spg). Indiana State has been without Cooper Neese due to a neck injury and is questionable for this matchup.

The Bulldogs are 4-14 ATS in their last 18 games, however, are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games vs. Indiana State. The Sycamores are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Drake has been solid on both ends of the court as the Bulldogs come into this game ranked 84th in scoring offense, 95th in FG%, & 124th in scoring defense. Indiana State has been led by their offense which ranks 155th in scoring offense, 134th in FG%, & 39th in three-pointers made per game, however, the Sycamores can struggle on the defensive end and currently rank just 212th in scoring defense & 171st in defensive FG%.

Indiana State is a tough team to play on their home court as the Sycamores have a 7-2 record at home, which includes a recent victory over Missouri State, however, in terms of the talent, there is no doubt that Drake is the better team. Drake is led by their offense which has been very strong this season and as between the fact that the Bulldogs are 5-1 on the road and that they should have plenty off success against a below average Indiana State defense, I’m taking Drake to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
