Indiana State vs Evansville 12/29/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Evansville Aces and the Indiana State Sycamores meet Thursday in college basketball action from Hulman Center. Evansville is currently 4-9 on the year. The Aces beat Bellarmine in their last game. As for Indiana State, they’re 9-4 following a loss to Northern Illinois last Thursday. Evansville has wins over Miami-OH, Robert Morris, Campbell and Bellarmine this year. The losses have come to Saint Louis, SEMO, SMU, UCF, South Alabama, Fairfield, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Ball State. 

In the Bellarmine game last Wednesday, the Aces were down 39-30 going into the break. The Aces posted a 43-22 edge from there in a 73-61 win. Leading scorer Kenny Strawbridge put up 22 points with five rebounds. 

Over on the Indiana State side, they went 5-1 over their first six games this year with a lone loss to UMKC. After four more wins the Sycamores have since lost to Southern Indiana, Duquesne and Northern Illinois. 

In the Northern Illinois game last Thursday, the Sycamores trailed 35-29 going into the second half. Indiana State was outscored 32-28 from there and lost 67-57. Courvoisier McCauley led the team on 21 points with eight rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll stay with Indiana State. The line is probably too thick to play around with, however. The Sycamores didn’t play especially well versus Northern Illinois in their last outing and they’re sitting on a three-game losing streak. That said, Indiana State has been solid on offense this year with 74 or more points in 11 of 13 games. As for Evansville, they posted a nice comeback win over Bellarmine in their last game and they’ve hit 69 or more points in three straight. Ultimately I don’t think the Aces will be able to keep up here if the Aces are playing well, however.
