The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Indiana Hoosiers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Bloomington Assembly Hall. Here’s an Indiana vs. Minnesota prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Indiana vs. Minnesota pick.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Betting Preview
The Gophers opened up the season on a reasonable 10-5 run in their first 15 outings. After that came losses to USC, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Penn State. Since then it’s been a 4-3 stretch with wins over Michigan State, Oregon, Rutgers, and UCLA. The losses otherwise were versus Maryland, Washington, and Michigan, giving the Gophers a 14-15 record.
In the UCLA game last weekend, the Gophers were down 41-40 going into the second half. Minnesota finished off the game on a 38-32 run; however, eventually powering out the comeback victory 78-73 on their home court. Leading the team in scoring was Bobby Durkin with 23 points. Both Langston Reynolds (six assists) and Cade Tyson (three rebounds) had 21 points apiece as well.
Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview
Over on the Indiana side, they opened the season on a 12-3 run, then took losses to Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa, and Michigan in the next four. Wins over Rutgers, Purdue, UCLA, Wisconsin, and Oregon came in the next six games, then losses to Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, and Michigan State. Over 29 games so far this year; that makes for a 17-12 overall run.
In the Michigan State game on Sunday, the Hoosiers were sitting in the locker room looking up at a 45-37 deficit on the scoreboard. Indiana was outscored 32-27 the rest of the way, so they didn’t end up getting any closer in an eventual 77-64 loss. Leading the team in scoring was Lamar Wilkerson with 29 points, one rebound, and one assist. Tucker DeVries added 20 points with six boards and two assists as well.

Indiana vs Minnesota Prediction
I’ll lean toward Indiana but this one’s a coin flip. The Hoosiers are coming off a home loss to Michigan State, shooting just 39.3 percent from the field with a 30-24 rebounding deficit. Indiana gave up 49 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent (12-of-24) from 3-point range on defense. That gives the Hoosiers four straight losses with fewer than 69 points scored in each. That said, three of those games were against ranked teams.
These teams last met way back on December 3 in a 73-64 road loss for the Hosiers. In that one Indiana shot a tepid 40 percent from the field and just 60 percent (12 of 20) from the line alongside their 36-22 rebounding deficit. The good news is that the Hoosiers had just seven turnovers to the Gophers’ 16 miscues. I could see this one going either way, so I’m probably not touching it.
