Notre Dame went 3-1 over their first four games this year, losing to Saint Mary’s alongside wins over CSU Northridge, High Point and Chaminade. Since then it’s been a 1-3 run with losses to Texas A&M, Illinois and Boston College prior to an upset win over Kentucky.
In the Wildcats matchup last weekend, the Irish were down 30-28 at the break. Notre Dame posted a 38-32 run from there to take the 66-62 victory. Both Dane Goodwin and Blake Wesley led the team on 14 points apiece.
Over on the Indiana side, they won their first six games this year over Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, St. John’s, Louisiana, Jackson State and Marshall. The Hoosiers are 2-2 since then with losses to Syracuse and Wisconsin mixed with wins over Nebraska and Merrimack.
In the Merrimack game back on Sunday, Indiana had a relatively slim 36-30 edge at halftime. The Hoosiers went 45-19 in the second half in an eventual 81-49 win. Trayce Jackson-Davis was tops on 16 points and nine rebounds for Indiana.
The Irish are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games. The over is 5-1 in Notre Dame’s last six neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the Hoosiers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 11-3 in Indiana’s last 14 overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Indiana. The Hoosiers are coming off a big win over Merrimack, shooting 51.9 percent with 54 rebounds along the way. The last four games have been spotty for Indiana however, and they’ve been at 68 or fewer points in two of those.
As for Notre Dame, they stood tall against Kentucky in their last outing with 46.4 percent shooing and a 33-28 rebounding edge. The Irish posted 15 team assists and had just nine turnovers in a very solid effort. Still, I’d imagine Notre Dame will come back to earth in this one. Provided Indiana can get off to a good offensive start the Hoosiers should be fine.
