The Kansas Jayhawks and the Iowa State Cyclones meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hilton Coliseum.
Kansas enters this one at 14-7 so far. The Jayhawks are 3-1 in their last four and coming off a win over Iowa State on Thursday. As for the Cyclones, they’re 2-13 this year. Iowa State has lost nine straight games including Thursday’s defeat. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Kansas began their year at 10-2 before suffering five losses to Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia over their next seven games. Since then it’s been a pair of wins for the Jayhawks over Oklahoma State and Iowa State.
In the 97-64 win over Iowa State on Thursday, Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji put up 19 points with three rebounds in 31 minutes. Jalen Wilson doubled up on 16 points and 11 boards, and Christian Braun had 18 points with six assists and five rebounds.
Over on the Iowa State side, they were sitting at 2-4 on December 20 but have since lost nine straight. Those defeats have come to Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Oklahoma, TCU and Kansas in succession.
In Thursday’s loss to Kansas, Iowa State’s Jalen Coleman-Lands put up 20 points with three rebounds. Also in double-figures there was Solomon Young with 10 points and three boards, and Rasir Bolton chipped in nine points with four rebounds in 23 minutes.
The Cyclones are 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. The over is 11-4 in Iowa State’s last 15 after an ATS loss and 8-0 in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Jayhawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Kansas is 0-6 ATS in their last six Saturday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to take Kansas again. The Jayhawks really didn’t have much trouble on Thursday, jumping out to a 39-27 lead at the break and posting 58 points in the second half on the way to a huge victory. Kansas shot 52.8 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Cyclones 44-32. This one may not be quite such a blowout, but I still like the Jayhawks better on the cover.
