Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners only lost three of their first 18 games this year versus North Carolina, TCU and Kansas. Oklahoma would then go 3-3 over the next six outings with losses to Texas, Texas Tech and UCF, however. Since then it’s been losses to Baylor and Kansas before an OT win versus Oklahoma State.

Matched up against Oklahoma State on the road in their last game on Saturday, the Sooners came back from a 38-30 halftime deficit to force overtime. Oklahoma hit a 12-10 run from there to bag the win 84-82. Leading scorer Rivaldo Soares came off the bench for 20 points and three rebounds.

Iowa State Cyclones

Over on the Cyclones’ side, they started the year on a 16-5 run with losses to Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, BYU and Baylor. Iowa State is 5-1 since then with wins over Texas, TCU, Cincinnati, Texas Tech and West Virginia alongside a lone loss to Houston in that time.

Over the weekend in their last matchup versus West Virginia, Iowa State came out of the locker room with a 40-30 edge. The Cyclones were outscored 34-31 from there but held on for the win 71-64. Tops on the team was Tamin Lipsey with 14 points, six assists and two steals.

ANDREW’S FREE OKLAHOMA VS IOWA STATE PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Iowa State. The Cyclones notched a nice defensive effort in their latest win over West Virginia, scoring 29 points off 23 turnovers and piling up 14 steals. It was a pretty solid offensive game as well with 45 percent shooting, and a nice bounce-back from the road loss to Houston on February 19. That makes 68 or more points in each of the last eight victories.

Iowa State had some troubles on the scoreboard the last time these teams met up on January 6, losing on the road 71-63. The Cyclones went just 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) from 3-point range and allowed 47.1 percent shooting from the field on the other side. It was a pretty well-rounded game otherwise however, so with the home push in the rematch I think Iowa State will be okay on a cover. Should be a great matchup regardless, though.
