The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet Sunday in college basketball action from Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Minnesota is currently 11-8 on the year. The Gophers lost to Purdue in their last game. As for Iowa, they’re sitting at 14-7 and fresh off a loss to Penn State. Minnesota began the year at 10-1 with only a loss to Michigan State. The Gophers are just 1-7 since then, however. They’ve fallen to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Purdue in that time.

Matched up against the Boilermakers on Wednesday, the Gophers were outscored 36-51 in the first half. Minnesota kept the pace from there but still lost 88-73. Payton Willis doubled up with 24 points, 10 assists and five rebounds during the defeat.

Over on the Iowa side, their year began at 13-4 with losses to Purdue, Illinois, Iowa State and Wisconsin along the way. it’s been a 1-3 stretch for the Hawkeyes since then. The losses have come versus Rutgers, Purdue and Penn State.

In the Nittany Lions game back on January 31, the Hawkeyes traded punches the whole way, fighting through two overtimes. Iowa ultimately fell 90-86 in a rough result. Keegan Murray was the leading scorer with 21 points and six rebounds.

Iowa is 33-16-3 ATS in their last 52 at home and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 Sunday games. The over is 19-7-1 in the Hawkeyes’ last 27 overall.

Meanwhile, the Gophers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and the over is 6-1 in their last seven overall. The over is 4-1 in Minnesota’s last five road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Iowa. The Hawkeyes have had a couple of rough games in their last pair (and a postponement versus Ohio State), but the good news is that they’re staying competitive versus comparable opponents. Iowa has hit 68 or more points in 10 of their last 11 games and should be able to put up a solid total here. The last time these teams met up, Iowa secured an 81-71 road victory. The Hawkeyes should be more comfortable at home, and I like them to post a good showing in a cover here.
