The Northwestern Wildcats and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet in college basketball action from the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Monday night.
The Northwestern Wildcats will look to bounce back after a 67-60 loss to Penn State last time out. Pete Nance leads the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 15 PPG and 6.3 RPG while Boo Buie has 14.7 PPG with a team-high 4.5 APG to lead the Wildcats in assists. Chase Audige has 10.8 PPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Northwestern up to this point in the season. As a team, Northwestern is averaging 73.3 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field, 34.5% from three and 72.6% from the foul line while allowing 68.3 PPG on 42.4% shooting from the field and 36.1% from three this season.
The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to build on their three-game win streak after an 88-78 win over Nebraska last time out. Keegan Murray leads the Hawkeyes in scoring and rebounding with 23.2 PPG and 8.2 RPG while Patrick McCaffery has 10.7 PPG and Jordan Bohannon has 10.7 PPG this season. Kris Murray has 10.1 PPG with 4.6 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Iowa on the year. Joe Toussaint also has a team-high 3.5 APG for the Hawkeyes this season. As a team, Iowa is averaging 83.8 PPG on 46.1% shooting from the field, 35.2% from three and 75.5% from the foul line while allowing 71.3 PPG on 43.6% shooting from the field and 33% from three this season.
Northwestern is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Iowa is 19-7-2 ATS in their last 28 home games against a team with a road winning percentage below .400 and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 Monday games while the over is 21-8-1 in their last 30 games overall.
I get the case to be made for both sides here, especially after Iowa burned me personally with that last second matador defense against Nebraska. However, the Hawkeyes are just the better team here with that offense and Northwestern simply can’t keep up here. I’ll side with the Hawkeyes at home in this one.
