The Kansas City Roos and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet in college basketball action from Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night.

The Kansas City Roos will be looking to bounce back from a season-opening 71-56 loss to Minnesota last time out. Josiah Allick led the Roos with 21 points on 7 of 10 shooting with 5 rebounds while Evan Gilyard II had 12 points and Marvin Nesbitt Jr. chipped in 11 points with a team-high 7 rebounds. Jacob Johnson added 6 points with a team-high 5 assists as well in the loss for UMKC. As a team, Kansas City shot 43.1% from the field, 27.8% from three and 70% from the foul line in the loss.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will look to build on their 106-73 win over Longwood last time out. Keegan Murray led the Hawkeyes with 24 points on 8 of 10 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 7 rebounds while Jordan Bohannon added 18 points on 6 of 8 from three-point range and Kris Murray chipped in 16 points on 7 of 9 shooting with 7 rebounds of his own. Patrick McCaffery added 11 points with a team-high 4 assists while Joe Toussaint added 9 points with 4 assists and 4 steals and Connor McCaffery had 7 rebounds of his own. Ahron Ulis had 6 points with a team-high 5 assists as well in the victory for Iowa. As a team, Iowa shot 56.4% from the field, 45.5% from three and 86.4% from the foul line in the win.

Kansas City is 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 road games and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games as a road underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Friday games. Iowa is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games.

I can understand the case for both sides as Iowa’s the better team, but are they this many points better than even Kansas City? I’m not sure, but one thing I do know is that this total feels low. Kansas City is capable of scoring well into the 70s and we’ve seen the Hawkeyes go into the 80s as well, especially at home and these Big Ten teams love to pile on against lesser opponents. I’ll side with the over in this one.
