Wisconsin has losses versus Kansas and Wake Forest so far this year. The victories otherwise for the Badgers have come versus South Dakota, Stanford, Green Bay, Dayton, USC, Marquette and Maryland.
In Tuesday’s matchup versus Maryland, the Badgers were up 31-29 by halftime. Wisconsin hit a 33-30 run in the second half for a 64-59 win. Leading scorer Chucky Hepburn put up 13 points with four rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Iowa side, they beat Bethune-Cookman, NC A&T, Seton Hall, Omaha and Clemson before a loss to TCU. The Hawkeyes would then beat Georgia Tech, lose to Duke and beat Iowa State in the next trio.
Matched up against Iowa State on Thursday, the Hawkeyes jumped out to a 40-20 halftime lead. Iowa kept the pace in the second half and ended up with a 75-56 win. Filip Rebraca led the team on 22 points with 11 boards.
PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on Iowa here. Should be a pretty interesting matchup, though. The Hawkeyes are coming off a very nice performance against Iowa State, notching 50 percent shooting from the floor, 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) from 3-point range and a 35-29 rebounding advantage. It was Iowa’s first win over a ranked team this year so far.
As for Wisconsin, they’re coming off a nice game themselves, beating Maryland with 42.6 percent shooting, 30 rebounds and 14 team assists. The Badgers would probably fare better in a lower-scoring game in this matchup, but if Iowa can get it going early I think the Hawkeyes can cover.
