IUPUI vs Oakland Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/19/23

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and the IUPUI Jaguars meet Thursday in college basketball action from Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Oakland is 7-12 so far this season. The Grizzlies lost to Youngstown State in their last game. As for IUPUI, they’re 3-16 on the year after a loss to Cleveland State on Saturday. Oakland Golden Grizzlies 

Oakland went just 3-11 to start the season. The wins in that time came versus Defiance, Eastern Michigan and Milwaukee. The Grizzlies are 4-1 in their last five games with wins over Green Bay, Northern KY, Wright State and Robert Morris. 

On Saturday versus Youngstown State, the Grizzlies stumbled to a 44-27 deficit by halftime. Oakland hit 42 points in the second half but still lost big 85-69. Jalen Moore was the top scorer with 20 points and seven assists. 

IUPUI Jaguars 

Over on the IUPUI side, they were 3-11 after 14 games as well, beating Franklin, Spalding and Texas A&M-Commerce. The Jaguars have lost to Wright State, Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Fort Wayne and Cleveland State since then. 

Matched up against Cleveland State on Saturday, the Jaguars faced a 36-23 deficit at the break. IUPUI was drilled 53-31 in the second and lost 89-54. John Egbuta was tops in scoring with 15 points and three rebounds in 18 minutes of work.

I’m going to stick with Oakland. That said, there’s not a whole lot to get excited about in this matchup; both teams are struggling this year. Oakland at least had a five-game win streak going recently, scoring 69 or more points in four of those outings. The Grizzlies floundered a bit against a pretty good Youngstown State team in their last game but still notched another 69 points. As for IUPUI, they’ve posted just 109 combined points over their last two games and probably won’t be able to keep up if Oakland gets going.
