The Green Bay Phoenix and the IUPUI Jaguars meet Saturday in college basketball action from Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Green Bay is just 2-21 this year. The Phoenix lost to Wright State last weekend. Green Bay Phoenix
Green Bay has had a forgettable season so far. The Phoenix have wins over only IUPUI and UMKC; they’re currently riding a 13-game losing streak since then. Green Bay has fallen to Robert Morris, Northern Kentucky and Wright State in the most recent trio.
In the Wright State matchup last weekend, the Phoenix were drilled 41-16 in the first half. Green Bay got better with 30 more points from there but still lost big 77-46. Cade Meyer and Randy Tucker led the team with 10 points each.
IUPUI Jaguars
Over on the IUPUI side, they won just three of their first 14 outings versus Franklin, Spalding and Texas A&M Commerce. The Jaguars lost to Northern Kentucky, Wright State, Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Fort Wayne (twice), Cleveland State (twice), Oakland and Detroit in the next 10 outings.
On Thursday versus Milwaukee, IUPUI went into the locker room with a one-point deficit. The Jaguars didn’t get any closer after the second half and lost 72-69. Jlynn Counter put up 22 points with seven rebounds to lead the way in the defeat.

I’m going to stick with IUPUI. Granted, there’s not much to get excited about in this matchup; both teams have struggled mightily this season. That said, we should have a pretty competitive game if both teams play well. These teams last saw each other back on December 5 at Resch Center in a 68-61 Green Bay victory. IUPUI got off to a bad start with just 24 first-half points, so they’ll need to be sure to get off to a good start in this one. With the familiar surroundings in the rematch I like IUPUI to ultimately power out the cover.
