Jackson State vs Florida A&M Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/23/23

The Florida A&M Rattlers and the Jackson State Tigers meet Monday in college basketball action from Williams Assembly Center. Florida A&M is currently 3-14 following a loss to Alcorn State on Saturday. As for Jackson State, they’re 5-14 overall following a win versus Bethune-Cookman in their Saturday matchup. Florida A&M Rattlers 

Florida A&M went just 2-12 over their first 14 games this year, beating only Albany State and Edward Winters in that time. Since then it’s been a 1-2 run with a win over MS Valley State with losses to AR-Pine Bluff and Alcorn State.

In the Alcorn State game, the Rattlers were down 28-19 by halftime. Florida A&M was outscored 29-28 in the second during a 57-47 loss. Jaylen Bates led the team with 14 points and 11 rebounds. 

Jackson State Tigers

Over on the Jackson State side, they were also 2-12 after 14 games with wins over SMU and Alcorn State. The Tigers have since gone 3-2 with victories versus Alabama State, Alabama A&M and Bethune-Cookman. 

Matched up against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, the Tigers took a 31-27 advantage into the second half. Jackson State kept the pace on a 39-39 run from there and won 70-66. Ken Evans led the team on 18 points and five rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Jackson State. That said, there’s not a ton of intrigue involved in this one as both teams are struggling this year. It should still be a competitive game, though. Jackson State looked pretty good against Bethune-Cookman in their last outing, and they’re now on a 4-2 run over the last six games. As for Florida A&M, they’re just 1-8 in their last nine games and haven’t been scoring too well. Jackson State should have the advantage here if they play to their capabilities.
