The Eastern Kentucky Colonels and the James Madison Dukes meet in college basketball action from the Atlantic Bank Union Center on Friday Night.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels will be out to build on their 122-64 win over subdivision Brescia last time out. Devontae Blanton leads the Colonels in scoring with 17.9 PPG and 3.3 APG as well as 5.9 RPG while Michel Moreno has 11.3 PPG with 6.3 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for EKU up to this point in the year. Cooper Robb has 8.9 PPG and 5.1 RPG while Tayshawn Comer has a team-high 3.6 APG and Isaiah Cozart has a team-high 6.6 RPG to lead the Colonels on the glass this season. As a team, Eastern Kentucky is averaging 84 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the field, 38.1% from three and 65.5% from the foul line this season.
The James Madison Dukes will look to rebound from an 81-79 OT loss to Valparaiso last time out. Takai Molson leads JMU in scoring with 14.4 PPG with 3.4 RPG while Vado Morse has 12.4 PPG with a team-high 2.6 APG this season. Terrence Edwards has 11.8 PPG with 4,5 RPG and 2.5 APG and Mezie Offurum has 10.8 PPG PPG with a team-high 5.5 RPG of his own to cap off the scoring in double figures for JMU so far this season. As a team, James Madison is averaging 92.9 PPG on 51.8% shooting from the field, 42.6% from three and 71.7% from the foul line this season.
Eastern Kentucky is 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games and 6-16 ATS in their last 22 games overall while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games following a win by 20+ points. James Madison is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a loss while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 home games.
I get the reasoning for backing the Colonels here as it’s not often you’re being asked to lay this many with the Dukes. However, James Madison’s been so good offensively up to this point in the season and I just don’t think that EKU is going to be able to match James Madison’s pace and efficiency for a full 40 minutes. This one has potential to get ugly. Give me James Madison laying the points.
