The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Kansas Jayhawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Allen Fieldhouse. Oklahoma State is 8-4 so far this year. The Cowboys beat Texas A&M-CC in their last game. As for Kansas, they’re 11-1 overall following a win versus Harvard last week. Oklahoma State has fallen to Southern Illinois, UCF, UConn and Virginia Tech so far this year. The wins otherwise have come versus TX-Arlington, Oakland, DePaul, Tulsa, Prairie View, Sam Houston, Wichita State and Texas A&M-CC.
Matched up against Texas A&M-CC last Tuesday, the Cowboys drilled the Islanders 44-20 in the first half. Oklahoma State cruised from there and won 81-58. Bryce Thompson posted 13 points, and Moussa Cisse added 12 points with 14 rebounds.
Over on the Kansas side, their lone loss came to Tennessee on November 25. The wins have come versus Omaha, North Dakota State, Duke, Southern Utah, NC State, Wisconsin, TX Southern, Seton Hall, Missouri, Indiana and Harvard this year.
In the Harvard game last Thursday, Kansas was up 32-23 going into the second half. The Jayhawks outscored the Crimson 36-31 from there and won 68-54. Jalen Wilson led the team on 21 points with six rebounds.
PICK: I might take a stab on Oklahoma State here. The Cowboys played great against a mediocre Islanders team in their last outing, shooting 50.9 percent from the field with 41 rebounds and 22 team assists. Oklahoma State has hit 65 points or fewer in four of their last five games however, so they’ll need a big offensive push to stay in this one. As for Kansas, there’s not much to complain about. The Jayhawks have scored 68 or more points in five straight games and should win this one as well. I like the Cowboys to hang around and eke out a cover if they play well, though.
