Kennesaw State vs Liberty Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/16/23

The Liberty Flames and the Kennesaw State Owls meet Thursday in college basketball action from KSU Convocation Center. Liberty is currently 21-6 on the year. The Flames beat Eastern Kentucky back on Saturday. As for Kennesaw State, they’re 20-7 so far following a victory over Jacksonville State in their last outing. Liberty Flames 

Liberty kicked off the year on a pretty good clip, going 15-5 over their first 20 games. The Flames are a nice 6-1 since then, beating North Florida, Stetson, Florida Gulf Coast, Austin Peay, Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky in that time. 

In the Eastern Kentucky matchup on Saturday, the Flames posted a 35-32 halftime edge. Liberty got better from there on a 48-41 run and took the win 83-73. Darius McGhee led the team on 28 points with three rebounds. 

Kennesaw State Owls

Over on the Kennesaw State side, they were 14-6 over their first 20 games of the year. The Owls are also on a 6-1 run in their last seven with wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Austin Peay, Lipscomb, Bellarmine and Jacksonville State (twice). 

In the rematch versus Jacksonville State back on Saturday, the Owls were down 36-30 going into the second half. Kennesaw State woke up after that on a 44-35 run and took the comeback win 74-71. Terrell Burden was tops on 19 points in the victory. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably try Liberty in this one. You could make a case either way, though; this should be one of the more competitive matchups on the Thursday college basketball slate. In any case, Liberty has lost only one game since January 8, going a nice 9-1 in that time. The Flames have scored 66 or more points in nine of those 10 as well. As for Kennesaw State, they’re winning games and scoring well these days but they’ve been cutting it awfully close over the last three outings. Liberty will be a tough opponent and I don’t think the Owls will keep a cover pace.
