The LSU Tigers and the Kentucky Wildcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Rupp Arena. LSU comes into this one at 12-1 overall. The Tigers beat Arkansas in their last game. As for Kentucky, they’re 9-4 following a win over Louisville on Saturday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

LSU managed to win five games before their first loss to Kansas State on November 23. Since then it’s been wins over Wofford, TX-Arlington, Wake Forest, NC Central, Winthrop, East TN State and Arkansas.

In the Arkansas game, the Tigers held a 24-19 edge at halftime. LSU had to scramble a bit in the second but still won 60-57. Trae Hannibal led the way on 19 points, and Derek Fountain doubled on 14 points with 10 rebounds.

Over on the Kentucky side, they were 7-3 through their first 10 games, taking losses to Michigan State, Gonzaga and UCLA. The Wildcats are 2-1 since then with wins over Florida A&M and Louisville.

In the Louisville game, the Wildcats were up 45-30 by the break. Kentucky put up a 41-33 run in the second half and won it 86-63. Oscar Tshiebwe topped the team on 24 points with 14 rebounds, and Jacob Toppin had 24 points with seven boards.

PICK: I’ll probably try Kentucky in this one. We should have a pretty interesting matchup on our hands, however. The Tigers beat a very good Arkansas team in their last game and they’ve been playing well over this seven game win streak. That said, LSU has had plenty of close games in that stretch. As for Kentucky, they’ve generally taken care of the easier teams on their schedule this year however they’ve been bitten by a few big opponents. If the Wildcats play well I think LSU will let them stay close.
