The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Kentucky Wildcats meet in college basketball action from Rupp Arena on Wednesday night.
The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to build on their 85-77 win over Georgia last time out. Scotty Pippen Jr. leads the Commodores in scoring with 18.6 PPG with 3.6 RPG and a team-high 3.4 APG to also lead Vandy in assists while Jordan Wright has 12.3 PPG with a team-high 5.8 RPG to lead the Commodores on the glass as the other double-digit scorer for Vanderbilt so far this season. Quentin Millora-Brown also has 5.7 RPG of his own this season. As a team, Vanderbilt is averaging 68.6 PPG on 41.2% shooting from the field, 31.9% from three and 68.9% from the foul line while allowing 64.7 PPG on 41.8% shooting from the field and 29.8% from three this season.
The Kentucky Wildcats will look to build on their 80-62 road win over Kansas last time out. Oscar Tshiebwe leads the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding with 16.3 PPG and 15.1 RPG, averaging a monster double-double per game while TyTy Washington Jr. has 13.1 PPG with 3.9 RPG and 4.4 APG. Kellan Grady has 12 PPG and Sahvir Wheeler has 10.8 PPG with a team-high 6.9 APG to lead Kentucky in assists this season. Keion Brooks Jr. also has 11.1 PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Kentucky so far this season. As a team, Kentucky is averaging 82.1 PPG on 49.7% shooting from the field, 34.9% from three and 73.3% from the foul line while allowing 64.1 PPG on 40.7% shooting from the field and 30.3% from three this season.
Vanderbilt is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Kentucky is 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games following an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 home games.
Is it an ideal spot to lay this many points against a Vanderbilt team that’s been competitive for much of the season? No, but I think it’s worth noting that a lot of Vanderbilt’s competitive performances have come at home and the Commodores seem to be back to getting pummeled on the road, like they did by scoring just 42 points on the road against a banged up Florida team. Kentucky’s had their spots this season where they’ve lost focus, and failed to cover by letting teams hang around, but I think Rupp Arena will be rocking for this game and for the Wildcats to win by 20+. Give me Kentucky here.
