La Salle vs Villanova 11/28/2021 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Villanova Wildcats and the La Salle Explorers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Tom Gola Arena. Villanova is 3-2 so far this year. The Wildcats fell to Purdue by six in their last game. As for La Salle, they’re 2-2 this season and coming off a win over Army. Villanova took a big 91-51 win over Mount St. Mary’s in their opener, then ran into a tough UCLA team with an 86-77 loss in game two. The next pair were wins 100-81 over Howard and 71-53 over Tennessee, however. 

Villanova took their second loss of the year in a difficult matchup versus Purdue. The Wildcats nursed a two-point lead at halftime but were outscored by eight from there in an 80-74 loss. Justin Moore led the team on 19 points with three rebounds. 

Over on the La Salle Side, they’ve got two tight wins and two OT losses in their first four games. The Explorers beat Albany in game two 67-64, but otherwise lost to Sacred Heart 86-81 and Delaware 85-82 to fall to 1-2. 

The Explorers were able to even their record back to .500 with a 61-58 win over Army in their last appearance. La Salle scored 30 second-half points on the way to the victory. Lead scorer Jhamir Brickus put up 14 points with two rebounds and two assists. 

La Salle is 5-14 ATS in their last 19 neutral-site games and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall. The over is 8-1 in the Explorers’ last nine on Sunday. 

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 on Sunday and 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite. The over is 4-0 in Villanova’s last four Sunday games. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Villanova. The Wildcats had a fairly strong outing against a good Purdue team in their last game, shooting 44.8 percent from the field. Villanova was outfoxed on the boards 38-26 however; that was a key to the Boilermaker win. 

As for La Salle, they notched a good effort themselves in their last game. The Explorers posted 39.3 percent from the floor with a 46-39 rebound edge in their win. That said, with a Villanova team coming off a stinging loss, I don’t think La Salle will be able to stay in range here.
