The Loyola MD Greyhounds and the Lafayette Leopards meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Kirby Sports Center. Loyola MD is 13-12 so far this year. the Greyhounds lost to Colgate in their last game. As for Lafayette, they’re 8-16 on the season and fresh off a loss to Colgate as well. Loyola MD managed a pretty solid 11-6 run through their first 17 games this year. It’s been a rough 2-6 run since then, however. The losses in that time have come to Boston U, Colgate, Bucknell, Navy, Holy Cross and Colgate.
In Saturday’s Colgate game, the Greyhounds were outscored 24-35 in the first half. Loyola MD got better from there on a 32-29 run but still lost 64-56. Jaylin Andrews was the team’s top scorer on 19 points with eight rebounds.
Over on the Leopards’ side, they were only able to win three of their first 14 games this year. Lafayette has managed a 5-5 stretch since then. They’re 1-2 in the last three games with a win over Lehigh between losses to Navy and Colgate.
Matched up against Colgate on Monday, the Leopards were within two points by the break. Lafayette was outscored 25-31 from there in a 69-61 loss. Leading the team in scoring was CJ Fulton on 11 points with four rebounds and two assists.
The Leopards are 2-10 ATS in the last 12 at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. The over is 13-6 in Lafayette’s last 19 at home.
Meanwhile, the Greyhounds are 1-7 ATS in their last eight overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. The under is 3-0-1 in Lafayette’s last four overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Loyola here. The Greyhounds really need a good on-court showing, though. Loyola has been at 64 points or below in four straight games, and they’re 1-5 in their last half-dozen outings.
The good news is that Loyola beat Lafayette the last time these teams met up in a 74-60 result. It’s going to be tougher managing a road rematch, but I think the Greyhounds are up to the challenge.
