Boston University Terriers

The Terriers managed a 7-10 run to start the year, then fell to Bucknell, Colgate, Army, Holy Cross, Colgate again and Army again over the next nine games. Since then Boston U has won three straight however, taking out Navy, American and Loyola Maryland during that time.

In the matchup versus Loyola MD on Sunday, the Terriers had a close game but ended up coming out on top. Boston scored 43 points in the first half and 30 in the second on the way to an 82-79 overtime victory. Leading team scorer Kyrone Alexander finished with 23 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Lehigh Mountain Hawks

Over on the Lehigh side, they started out at 4-12 this year, then hit a 3-1 stretch in January featuring wins over American, Holy Cross and Navy. After two more losses, the Hawks hit a win streak versus Lafayette, Bucknell, Loyola MD, Army and Lafayette again in the next five.

Matched up against Lafayette over the weekend, the Mountain Hawks went into the second half with a 37-26 edge. Lehigh was outscored 37-34 from there but held on for the win 71-63. Burke Chebuhar topped the team on a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.

I’ll stick with Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks played pretty well in their latest win over Lafayette, shooting 43.3 percent from the field with a 46-36 rebounding edge. Lehigh held the Leopards to 34.9 percent shooting on the other side as well. During this five-game win streak Lehigh has scored 71 or more points in each outing.

These teams last saw each other back on February 3 in a tight 72-71 home victory for Boston. The shooting was really solid on both sides (50 percent each) but the Terriers were able to go 10-of-12 from the line as opposed to Lehigh’s 12-of-19. This one should be pretty tight as well but I like the Mountain Hawks to bag the revenge cover at home.
