North Alabama lost three of their first four games this year, then hit a nice win streak over Oakwood, Alabama State, MS Valley State, Carver and Alabama A&M. Since then it’s been a 1-4 run with loses to Auburn, UCF and Gonzaga.
Matched up against Gonzaga on December 28, the Lions were drilled 47-25 in the first half on the way to a 93-63 blowout loss. The only double-digit scorer on the team was CJ Brim with 15 points, four rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Lipscomb side, they hit a 5-2 run over their first seven outings. The Bison would then lose five straight before a in over Tennessee Wesleyan. Since then it’s been a loss to LSU and a win over Alabama A&M.
In the Bulldogs matchup, Lipscomb managed 32 points in the first half and 34 more from there in a 66-63 win. Jacob Ognacevic led the team on 16 points and eight rebounds. KJ Johnson added 12 points and four boards.
The Bisons are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 0-4 ATS in the last four overall. Lipscomb is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games. North Alabama is 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m probably going to try North Alabama here. The Lions’ recent record doesn’t look so good, but to be fair their losses have come to very good teams in Auburn, UCF and Gonzaga. Among comparable competition North Alabama has generally done pretty well since late November. As for Lipscomb, they’re coming off an uninspired effort against Alabama A&M. The Bisons are going to need to turn it up a notch in this one if they want to keep the pace.
