The Tennessee State Tigers and the Lipscomb Bisons meet Sunday in college basketball action from Allen Arena. The Tigers are 2-6 on the year. Tennessee State beat IUPUI in their last game. As for the Bisons, they’re 5-5 so far and coming off a loss to Miami-FL. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Tennessee State posted a 1-2 run to start out the year, getting a win over Fisk in game three. After four straight losses to South Dakota, Nebraska, Southern U and Chicago State the Tigers got another win over IUPUI on Friday.

In the IUPUI matchup, Tennessee State posted a 33-17 edge in the first half on the way to a 70-44 win. Top scorer Dedric Boyd finished with 20 points, for rebounds and two assists. Kassim Nicholson added 10 points and three boards as well.

Over on the Lipscomb side, they went 4-1 in their first quintet with wins over Birmingham-Southern, SC State, Loyola MD and Dayton. The Bisons have gone 1-4 since then with losses to Tennessee Tech, Belmont, Chattanooga and Miami.

In the loss to the Hurricanes on Wednesday, the Bisons gave up 35 points in the first half and 41 more from there in a 76-59 loss. The only double-digit scorer on the team was Kaleb Coleman with 12 points and two boards in 19 minutes.

The Bisons are 1-5 ATS in their last six Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. Lipscomb is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 5-21 ATS in their last 26 road games. Tennessee State is 6-15 ATS in their last 21 overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Lipscomb. The Bisons have been on a tough stretch over their last three games, scoring 65 or fewer points in each—while also giving up 76 or more in each. The Bisons shot a tepid 37.1 percent in the Miami game, but held strong on the boards with a slim 34-35 rebounding deficit.

As for Tennessee State, they can score pretty well when the matchup is right this year, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one as a high-scoring affair. Ultimately I think the Bisons can stick out the cover, though.
