The Cal Poly Mustangs will travel to Walter Pyramid to take on the Long Beach State Beach this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Cal Poly Mustangs lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 5-14 on the season after being defeated by the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 61-50, this past Thursday. Cal Poly led by a 26-19 margin at halftime, however, the Mustangs struggled on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and could not fight back after Cal State Fullerton took a 52-42 lead with 3:27 left in regulation. Cal Poly shot 36.7% from the field & 38.1% from beyond the arc while allowing Cal State Fullerton to shoot 32.1% from the field & 14.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Mustangs was Brantley Stevenson who had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, & 1 block.

On the season, Cal Poly is averaging 60.2 ppg on 40.2% shooting from the field. The Mustangs are averaging 5.1 three-pointers per game on 30.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Cal Poly has been led by Alimamy Koroma (13.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), Trevon Taylor (8.8 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), Camren Pierce (8.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.7 apg), & Kyle Colvin (7.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg).

Defensively, Cal Poly is allowing their opponents to average 66.3 ppg on 40.7% shooting from the field. The Mustangs have a rebound margin of 1.2 and a turnover margin of -2.5.

The Long Beach State Beach won their 7th straight game and improved to 11-9 on the season after defeating the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners, 74-65, this past Thursday. Long Beach State was strong on the defensive end in the 2nd half and the Beach were able to pull away for the victory after a 9-0 run gave Long Beach State a 66-58 lead with 2:27 left in regulation. Long Beach State shot 43.4% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc while allowing CSU Bakersfield to shoot 41.3% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Beach was Colin Slater who had 23 points, 7 rebounds, & 3 assists.

On the season, Long Beach State is averaging 73.7 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Beach are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Long Beach State has been led by Joel Murray (16.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.7 spg), Colin Slater (13.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg), Jadon Jones (9.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.0 spg, 1.1 bpg), & Aboubacar Traore (8.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.5 bpg).

Defensively, Long Beach State is allowing their opponents to an average of 74.2 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Beach have a rebound margin of 2.9 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Mustangs are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games, however, are just 29-61-2 ATS in their last 92 Saturday games. The Beach are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win & 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games.

Cal Poly is led by a solid defense which ranks 101st in scoring defense & 60th in defensive FG%, however, the Mustangs have really struggled offensively this season and come into this matchup with just a 2-9 record on the road this season. Long Beach State has been outstanding as of late and as I think their offense find success at home against the Mustangs, I’m taking the Beach to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
