The Texas Southern Tigers and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet in college hoops action from Thomas Assembly Center on Wednesday night.
The Texas Southern Tigers come into this one looking for their first win after an 81-64 loss to BYU last time out. John Walker III leads the Tigers in scoring with 12.2 PPG along with 4.3 RPG while PJ Henry has 11.3 PPG with 2.3 APG and Joirdon Karl Nicholas also has 10.8 PPG with 5.5 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Texas Southern up to this point in the season. Brison Gresham also has 7.8 RPG as well for the Tigers this season. As a team, Texas Southern is averaging 61.2 PPG on 38.5% shooting from the field, 26.1% from three and 69.8% from the foul line while allowing 71.5 PPG on 40.8% shooting from the field and 28.1% from three this season.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be looking to bounce back from their own loss to the NC State Wolfpack falling by a final count of 90-81. Kenneth Lofton Jr. leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding, averaging a double-double per game with 18.2 PPG and 11.5 RPG while Keaston Willis has 13.3 PPG and 4.2 RPG this season. Amorie Archibald and Isaiah Crawford each have 11+ PPG for the Bulldogs to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for LA Tech so far this season while Cobe Williams has a team-high 4.2 APG as well on the year. As a team, LA Tech is averaging 80.8 PPG on 46.7% shooting from the field, 35.6% from three and 68.9% from the foul line while allowing 75 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field and 33.6% from three this season.
Texas Southern is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS win while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a loss. Louisiana Tech is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.
I get why you’d lay the points at home with Louisiana Tech as the Bulldogs have four wins this season and have been playing their best ball at home. However, we all know Texas Southern’s M.O. as this team schedules tough and it serves them well in conference play. The thing is that I don’t think that LA Tech is this worthy of laying double-digits albeit barely laying double digits. I think the Tigers keep this one at 9 or less, so I’ll take the Texas Southern Tigers and the points here.
