Louisiana vs Marshall Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/4/23

The Marshall Thundering Herd and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns meet Saturday in college basketball action from the Cajundome. Marshall is coming off a Thursday game versus Appalachian State. In that one the Herd powered out an eight-point victory. As for Louisiana, they played Texas State in their Thursday game. The Cajuns went on to win that one by 19 points. Marshall Thundering Herd 

Marshall kicked off their year on a 12-4 run with losses to Queens NC, UNCG and James Madison. The Herd hit a 6-1 run in their next seven with wins over Coastal Carolina, Southern Miss, Old Dominion, Texas State, Arkansas State and Georgia State. 

On Thursday versus App State, the Herd got off to a 31-24 lead at halftime. Marshall posted a 35-34 advantage from there and won it 66-58. Andrew Taylor was the top scorer on the team with 21 points and seven assists. 

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns

Over on the Louisiana side, they were 12-4 after 16 games as well. The Cajuns continued their win streak in the six games after that, taking out LA-Monroe, South Alabama, Arkansas State, Texas State, Troy and Georgia Southern in succession. 

In their Thursday game versus Texas State, Louisiana took a four-point lead into the break. The Cajuns rolled on a 44-29 second half and took the big win 82-63. Greg Williams was the high team scorer on 23 points and five rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stick with Louisiana. This should be an interesting matchup, though; both teams have been playing well lately. The Cajuns are riding an eight-game win streak, and they’ve hit 72 or more points in seven of those outings. As for Marshall, they’re 7-1 in their last eight games with 73 or more points in seven of those. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a high-scoring shootout here. I like a close, competitive game as Louisiana ekes out the cover/win late. Should be a good one to watch.
