Duke Blue Devils

Duke lost three of their first eight games this year to Arizona, Arkansas and Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils recovered with wins over Charlotte, Hofstra, Baylor, Queens, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech, but then fell to Pittsburgh in the rematch on Saturday.

Over the weekend versus the Panthers, the Blue Devils were trailing by four points going into the second half. Duke kept the pace on 42 points from there but ended up losing 80-76. Tops in scoring was Jared McCain with 20 points, while Kyle Filipowski put up 19 points and five boards.

Louisville Cardinals

Over on the Louisville side, they were only able to win five of their first 11 games over UMBC, Coppin State, New Mexico State, Bellarmine and Pepperdine. The Cardinals are 1-6 since then with losses to Kentucky, Virginia, Pittsburgh, NC State, North Carolina and Wake Forest (and a win over Miami).

Matched up against Wake Forest on Saturday, the Cardinals were down 48-33 going into the second half. Louisville didn’t get any closer on a 42-32 second-half run and fell 90-65. Tre White was the team’s leading scorer in the losing effort with 17 points and six boards.

ANDREW’S FREE DUKE VS LOUISVILLE PREDICTION

I’ll just stay with Duke. The Blue Devils need a good showing after their loss to Pittsburgh over the weekend, and this is a solid opportunity to get it. Duke gave up 50.8 percent shooting to the Panthers in their latest loss, along with a 32-25 rebounding deficit (9-4 offensive). The Blue Devils are still scoring well though; they’ve hit 75 or more points in eight of the last nine games.

As for Louisville, they’ve managed to score 70 or more points in four of the last five games themselves, but they’re also giving up a lot on defense. Duke should have plenty of chances to run up the score in this one.

Andrew's Free Pick: Duke Blue Devils -13.5
