Loyola-Chicago vs Evansville 2/23/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Evansville Aces and the Loyola Ramblers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Gentile Arena. Evansville is sitting at 6-21 this year. Evansville hasn’t been able to find much consistency this year; the Aces have yet to win consecutive games. Evansville is currently on a five-game losing streak to Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Drake and Valparaiso (twice). 

In the Valparaiso rematch on Monday, the Aces were down 30-36 by the break. Evansville got better from there on a 39-38 run but ended up losing 74-69. Blake Sisley was tops in scoring on 18 points with two boards. 

Over on the Ramblers’ side, they lost consecutive outings once early in the year but they’ve avoided repeating the feat since. Loyola is on a 3-1 run right now. The wins in that time have come over Northern Iowa, Valparaiso and Illinois State. 

Matched up against Illinois State on Monday, the Ramblers held a 33-23 lead going into the second half. Loyola mostly kept the pace from there and took a 59-50 victory. Aher Uguak managed 17 points with seven boards and one assist in the win. 

The over is 16-5 in the Ramblers’ last 21 at home and they’re 0-5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. Loyola is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven at home.
Meanwhile, the Aces are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 Wednesday games. Evansville is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Loyola. The line is probably too thick to mess with, though. The Ramblers have done a pretty good job on the scoreboard lately; they’ve hit 68 or more points in six of their last eight outings. These teams last met up back on January 18. Loyola took a 77-48 road victory in that one and didn’t have too much trouble along the way. This outcome should be similar, and Loyola should be in full control cover-wise.
