The Navy Midshipmen will travel to Reitz Arena to take on the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Navy Midshipmen dropped to 14-8 on the season after being defeated by the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 63-62, this past Wednesday. Navy looked like they had this one in hand after taking a 60-43 lead with 5:09 left in regulation, however, Lehigh mounted a furious comeback and pulled off the improbable victory after Evan Taylor hit a game-winning layup for the Mountain Hawks with just :10 seconds left in regulation. Navy shot 39.2% from the field & 41.7% from beyond the arc while allowing Lehigh to shoot 40.4% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Midshipmen was Greg Summers who had 16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 2 steal.

On the season, Navy is averaging 66.5 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen are averaging 5.9 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Navy has been led by John Carter Jr. (13.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Greg Summers (10.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Tyler Nelson (8.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg), & Daniel Deaver (7.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg).

Defensviely, Navy is holding their opponents to an average of 60.6 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Midshipmen have a rebound margin of 5.6 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Loyola (MD) Greyhounds snapped a 2-game losing streak and improved to 13-9 on the season after defeating the Army Black Knights, 61-57, this past Wednesday. Loyola (MD) led by a 35-29 margin at halftime and was able to hold off Army for the victory after taking a 57-50 lead with 2:04 left in regulation. Loyola (MD) shot 43.8% from the field & 37.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Army to shoot 45.1% from the field & 46.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Greyhounds was Cam Spencer who had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Loyola (MD) is averaging 68.3 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Greyhounds are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Loyola (MD) has been led by Cam Spencer (19.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.6 apg, 2.3 spg), Jaylin Andrews (14.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.9 spg), Kenneth Jones (8.1 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.5 spg), & Golden Dike (5.2 rpg, 6.1 rpg, 1.8 apg).

Defensively, Loyola (MD) is allowing their opponents to average 66.8 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Greyhounds have a rebound margin of -1.2 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The Midshipmen are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Greyhounds are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600, however, are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Navy is a solid team, however, this is a team that can really struggle to score the basketball (293rd in scoring offense) and I think will have a hard time bouncing back after collapsing against Lehigh earlier this week. Loyola (MD) is a team that is very tough on their home court (9-1 record) and as I think their defense, which has done a nice job forcing turnovers, will give Navy some trouble here, I think the play is to take the Greyhounds and the points. Good Luck!
