The Grand Canyon Antelopes and the Loyola Marymount Lions meet Monday in college basketball action from Gersten Pavilion. Grand Canyon enters this game at 5-1 overall. The Antelopes took out Pepperdine in their last game on Saturday. As for LMU, they’re 4-2 on the year and fresh off a win over Prairie View A&M. Grand Canyon won their first three games of the year, taking out Grambling State, North Florida and Prairie View A&M in succession. The Antelopes took a loss 68-61 to Wyoming, but bounced back with an 82-47 win over Life Pacific.
In Saturday’s matchup versus Pepperdine, the Antelopes were able to eke out another win. Grand Canyon outscored the Waves 27-26 in the second half in a 59-56 result. Holland Woods put up 15 points with three rebounds to lead the team.
Over on the LMU side, they went 2-2 over their first four games this year. The Lions lost to Chattanooga and Florida State while otherwise beating AZ Christian and Little Rock. Last Monday was a win 76-70 over SMU.
Loyola Marymount kept it going Saturday with an 83-80 win over Prairie View. The Lions were down by three at halftime but ended up powering out the victory. Eli Scott put up 28 points with seven rebounds, and Cameron Shelton had 15 points.
The Lions are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 overall and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Monday games. LMU is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Antelopes are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 overall and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 after a straight-up win. The under is 4-1 in Grand Canyon’s last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on LMU here. The Lions have done a good job scoring in their wins, with 74 or more points in each. In the two losses however, LMU has just 109 points combined. In their last game the Lions posted a solid 46.9 percent shooting with 32 rebounds and 10 assists. If Loyola Marymount can get going early on the scoreboard I think they’ll be good on a cover. Should be a fun matchup regardless, though.
