The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Loyola MD Greyhounds meet Sunday in college basketball action from Reitz Arena. Lehigh is 10-17 on the season. The Mountain Hawks beat Bucknell in their last appearance. As for Loyola, they’re 13-13 so far and lost to Lafayette in their most recent game. Lehigh started out the year on an ugly 1-10 run, but they worked their way to a 9-14 record by the beginning of February. After losses to Boston U, Colgate and Lafayette, the Mountain Hawks managed a win over Bucknell in their last game.
On Monday versus Bucknell, the Mountain Hawks were down 35-40 by halftime. Lehigh responded on a 51-37 second-half run during an eventual 86-77 comeback win. Nic Lynch led the production on 19 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Over on the Greyhounds’ side, they had carved out a 11-6 record by mid-January. The Greyhounds have gone just 2-7 since then, however. They’ve lost to Navy, Holy Cross, Colgate and Lafayette in their last four games.
Matched up against Lafayette on Wednesday, the Greyhounds were outscored 33-40 in the first half and 35-37 from there in a 77-68 loss. Topping the team scorers in the defeat was Cam Spencer on 17 points and six rebounds with three assists.
The Greyhounds are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 1-8 ATS in their last nine overall. The under is 9-3-1 in Loyola MD’s last 13 overall.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and the under is 6-2 in their last eight road games. The over is 7-3 in Lehigh’s last 10 after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Lehigh here. Probably staying away from this one, though; neither team has been all that consistent lately and a lot of different things could happen. In any case, Lehigh is coming off a nice win over Bucknell and they’ve been competitive more often than not lately. The last time these teams met up, Loyola MD secured a 69-57 road win. I think Lehigh will be ready this time and primed to power out a cover.
