The Lipscomb Bisons and the LSU Tigers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Lipscomb is sitting at 6-7 thus far. The Bisons beat Tennessee Wesleyan in their last game. As for LSU, they’re rolling along at 11-0 and fresh off a win versus Louisiana Tech. Lipscomb started the year out on a 5-2 run with losses to Charleston and Tennessee Tech. The Bisons lost five straight to Belmont, Chattanooga, Miami-FL, Tennessee State and Florida State before a win over Tennessee Wesleyan.

Matched up against Tennessee Wesleyan on Sunday, the Bisons scored 53 points in the first half and 45 more from there in a 98-64 win. Top scorer Jacob Ognacevic came away with 35 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes of work.

Over on the LSU side, they’ve really only had one “close” game so far. The Tigers have taken out LA-Monroe, Texas State, Liberty, McNeese State, Belmont, Penn State, Wake Forest, Ohio, Georgia Tech, Northwestern State and Louisiana Tech along the way.

In the Louisiana Tech matchup on Saturday, the Tigers were outscored 35-27 in the first half. LSU stormed back on a 39-22 run from there in an eventual 66-57 win. Both Kenneth Lofton and Amorie Archibald scored 13 points apiece with a combined 13 boards.

The Tigers are 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13 at home and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 overall. LSU is 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 as a favorite.

Meanwhile, the Bisons are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall. Lipscomb is 5-2 ATS in the last seven Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with LSU, but staying away. The Tigers had a very shaky first half against LA Tech in their last outing, but eventually stuck it out thanks to a 43-36 rebounding advantage. It wasn’t a sharp game though, and LSU has scored fewer than 70 points in three of their last four outings.

As for Lipscomb, they had a run of five games with 65 points or fewer before their most recent win. I don’t think there will be too much room for the Bisons to find points here, either.
