The North Texas Mean Green and the LSU Tigers meet in college basketball action from the TD Arena on Friday afternoon.
North Texas Falls To St. John’s
The North Texas Mean Green come into this one looking to shake off a 53-52 loss to St. John’s in their last matchup. Entering Thursday’s game, Aaron Scott leads the Mean Green in scoring with 22 PPG along with 5 RPG while CJ Noland has 14.5 PPG. Rubin Jones and Jason Edwards each have 12 PPG with 2 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for North Texas up to this point in the year, with Jones chipping in a team-high 5.5 APG and 2.5 SPG. As a team, North Texas is averaging 79 PPG on 51.4% shooting from the field, 45.2% shooting from three and 81.6% from the foul line this season.
LSU Blows Lead Against Dayton
The LSU Tigers were in control of their matchup with Dayton before falling apart in a 70-67 loss to the Flyers last time out. Heading into Thursday, Will Baker leads the Tigers in scoring with 15.5 PPG along with 4.5 RPG while Jordan Wright has 11.5 PPG with 3.5 RPG and 2.5 SPG and Jalen Reed has 11 PPG with a team-high 7 RPG to lead LSU on the glass while capping off the group of double-digit scorers for LSU up to this point in the year. Trae Hannibal’s also dished out a team-high 4 APG as well on the year. As a team, LSU is averaging 86 PPG on 48.7% shooting from the field, 37.8% from three and 71.7% from the foul line this season.
I’m on the Mean Green here. They battled St. John’s tooth and nail the entire way through that game, while LSU had a decent lead against Dayton before blowing it, which I definitely think is worse of the two situations. I’m also not sold on this LSU team that fell apart during conference play last year and I trust North Texas shooting the rock more in the open floor side-by-side. Give me North Texas.
