Ole Miss got off to a decent 9-5 start this year amid a postponement break at the end of December. Since then the Rebels are just 2-5, though. They’ve lost to Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Mississippi State and Arkansas with wins over Mississippi State and Kansas State in that time.
In the Kansas State matchup on Saturday, the Rebels posted 30 points in the first half and 37 more from there in a 67-56 win. Leading the way in scoring was Daeshun Ruffin with 17 points and six boards. Luis Rodriguez added 10 points and three rebounds as well.
Over on the LSU side, they stormed out of the gate this year at 15-1 with only a loss to Auburn in late December. The Tigers have gone 1-4 since then. They’ve got a win over Texas A&M amid losses to Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee and TCU in that time.
On Saturday versus TCU in their last appearance, the Tigers coughed up a 38-29 lead by the break. LSU kept pace from there and ended up losing 77-68. Tari Eason was the team’s top scorer with 16 points, three rebounds and three steals.
The Tigers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and 14-3-1 ATS in their last 18 at home. LSU is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Rebels are 1-4 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. Ole Miss is 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Ole Miss. Probably not going near this one, though; lots of different things could happen and both teams have been struggling lately. That said, the Rebels have looked better over their last three games. They’ve held opponents to 64 or fewer points in each outing. As for LSU, they’re not a super high-scoring team this year and they’ve suffered for it lately. The Tigers have been at 68 points or fewer in five of their last six, and I don’t think they’ll drop a ton of points here either. I like the Rebels to stick around and get in on a cover; the line doesn’t seem bad.
