The Ole Miss Rebels and the LSU Tigers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Ole Miss is currently 15-1 on the year so far. The Rebels are coming off a win over Vanderbilt. As for LSU, they lost to Auburn in their last game which dropped the Tigers to 10-6 overall. Let’s get into our Ole Miss vs. LSU prediction. Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels got off to a 13-0 start this year with wins over Alabama State, Eastern Washington, Detroit, Sam Houston, Temple, NC State, Memphis, Mount St. Mary’s, UCF, California, Troy, Southern Miss and Bryant. After a loss to Tennessee, Ole Miss took out Florida and Vanderbilt in the next pair.

In the Vanderbilt game on Saturday, the Rebels jumped out to a 41-32 edge by the break. Ole Miss kept it up in the second half with a 28-24 edge and won 69-56. Matthew Murrell led the team on 24 points with six rebounds and two steals, while Allen Flanigan added 16 points and eight assists.

LSU Tigers

Over on the Tigers’ side, they kicked off the year on a 6-5 run with losses to Nicholls, Dayton, Syracuse, Kansas State and Texas. LSU would then hit a win streak over Lamar, Northwestern State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt before another loss to Auburn in their last outing.

Matched up against Auburn on Saturday, the Tigers were drilled 51-34 in the first half. LSU got better from there on a 44-42 advantage but still lost 93-78. Leading scorers Jordan Wright (seven rebounds) and Trae Hannibal (bench) each contributed 18 points in the losing effort.

ANDREW’S FREE OLE MISS VS LSU PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Ole Miss. The Rebels are having a great season and are playing well right now. That said, Ole Miss shot a tepid 40.7 percent from the field in the Vanderbilt game, so they’ll need to sharpen up the shooting a bit coming into Wednesday’s matchup. The Rebels have been below 70 points in two of the last three games (a 1-1 pair) but they shouldn’t have too much trouble hitting that threshold here if all goes well.

As for LSU, they’re coming off a tough loss to a good Auburn team but they’ve hit 68 or more points in seven straight. The Tigers should be able to score well in this one also, so we’ll likely see a high total. I don’t think LSU will quite hit the cover/win pace, though.
