The LSU Tigers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet Sunday in college basketball action from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Here’s a Texas Tech vs LSU prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Texas Tech vs LSU pick.
LSU Tigers Betting Preview
It’s been a nice blemish-free run for the Tigers so far this year. LSU opened with a win over Tarleton State, then took out New Orleans, Florida International and Alcon State in the next trio. The Tigers have since won four more games versus Omaha, Drake, DePaul and Boston College. Through eight games so far that gives the Tigers a perfect 8-0 record on the season.
In their latest outing on Wednesday versus Boston College, the Tigers had to go to overtime but ended up powering out a 78-69 win to keep their record spotless. In the road victory, LSU’s top scorer was Dedan thomas with 23 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals. Marquel Sutton added 18 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double while both Mike Nwoko and Max Mackinnon had 12 points apiece in the winning effort for the Tigers.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview
Over on the Red Raiders’ side, they opened up their season with a couple of wins versus Lindenwood and Sam Houston, then fell by four to a good Illinois team in game three. A 2-1 run came next with wins over Milwaukee and Wake Forest ahead of a blowout loss to Purdue. Since then it’s been two more wins, this time over New Orleans and Wyoming. Through eight games in the first month of the season, the Red Raiders came up with a 6-2 record overall.
Matched up against Wyoming last Sunday, the Raiders were able to escape with a 76-72 home win. Leading the charge for Texas Tech in the victory effort was JT Toppin with 27 points, nine rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes of work. LeJuan Watts came off the bench for 19 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes, and Christian Anderson had 15 points with five assists in the win for the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech vs LSU Prediction
I’ll probably just stick with LSU. You could also probably call this one either way, though; it’ll be a fun matchup. The Tigers had trouble shaking off a pesky Boston College team in their last outing, shooting just 40 percent from the field and 3-of-19 (16 percent) from outside. LSU saved themselves with 17-of-20 (85 percent) from the line however, and outscored the Eagles 40-22 in the paint. Still, the win was a bit too close for comfort. LSU is scoring great this year with 71 or more points in every game, though their latest outing was buoyed by the overtime period.
As for Texas Tech, they shot a nice 49 percent from the field in their latest win over Wyoming, but also hit just 4-of-17 (24 percent) from outside and 18-of-30 (60 percent) from the free throw line. Otherwise it was a good effort from the Raiders, as they were competitive on the boards and had a 38-30 advantage in the paint. Texas Tech has been below 76 points just once this year themselves, so we should have a pretty good-sized total in this one.
