Manhattan vs Monmouth 12/4/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Monmouth Hawks and the Manhattan Jaspers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Draddy Gymnasium. Monmouth is 0-8 on the year and coming off a loss to Rider. Monmouth hasn’t had any luck in the win column this year, and they’ve had some tough matchups. The Hawks fell to Seton Hall, Virginia, Illinois, Norfolk State, Colgate, Cornell and Lehigh in their first seven games. 

Monmouth took another loss on Wednesday versus Rider. The Hawks scored just 27 points in the first half and 35 more after the break in an 88-62 defeat. Myles Ruth led the team on 16 points, and Myles Foster added 12 points.

Over on the Jaspers’ side, they lost their first two games this year to VCU and Fairleigh Dickinson. Manhattan would beat Mount St. Vincent, lose to Northeastern and beat Army over the next three games. 

In the Thursday game versus Fairfield, the Jaspers were down 27-24 by halftime. Manhattan scored 32 points in a second-half comeback and won 56-53. Anthony Nelson was tops on the team int 18 points and five assists. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Manhattan. Also probably not going near it. There’s not much to like in this matchup between teams who are a combined 3-11. In any case, Manhattan took a while to get going against Fairfield in their last game but they ended up getting the job done. The Jaspers have scored 67 or more points in four of their six games so far, so they’re certainly capable of putting up reasonable offensive efforts. Monmouth has been above 66 points just once this year so it shouldn’t take a whole lot to keep the pace in this one.
