The Boston University Terriers and the Marist Red Foxes meet Saturday in college basketball action from McCann Arena. Boston U is 5-5 overall this year and coming off a loss to Notre Dame. As for Marist, they’re 4-4 on the season and beat Maine last weekend. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Boston U went a solid 4-1 over their first five games, beating Northeastern, JWU-Providence, Hartford and New Hampshire. The Terriers have gone just 1-4 since, with losses to SEMO, Milwaukee, UC Davis and Notre Dame.

Matched up against Notre Dame on Wednesday, the Terriers trailed 36-29 going into the second half. Boston U scored 46 points from there and lost 81-75. Ethan Brittain-Watts led the way on 19 points.

Over on the Marist side, they were just 1-4 after five games this year. The losses in that time were to Binghamton, Lehigh, Princeton and MD Eastern Shore. The Foxes beat Bucknell and Columbia in the next pair.

Marist kept their win streak going last weekend versus Maine. The Red Foxes scored 31 points in each half on the way to a tense 62-61 win. Leading the team scoring was Patrick Gardner with 27 points and nine rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Boston U. The Terriers didn’t play too badly against a pretty darn good Notre Dame team in their last outing. Boston U shot 44.1 percent from the field and 41.4 percent (12-of-29) from 3-point range. The Terriers also had a 35-31 rebounding advantage (10-5 offensive) with 15 team assists. Boston U hasn’t been scoring super well this year so far, but then again neither has Marist. This matchup should be in the Terriers’ wheelhouse if they play well.
