The St. Peter’s Peacocks and the Marist Red Foxes meet Wednesday in college basketball action from McCann Arena. St. Peter’s is sitting at 7-7 this year. The Peacocks lost to Canisius in their last game over the weekend. As for Marist, they’re currently 8-9 and coming off a loss to Fairfield. St. Peter’s stumbled out of the gate this year to a 3-6 record. The Peacocks lost to VCU, St. John’s, Providence, Siena, St. Francis BKN and Stony Brook in that time. After a four-game win streak in the next quartet, the Peacocks lost again to Canisius.

In the Canisius game on Sunday, the Peacocks had a one-point lead heading into halftime. St. Peter’s couldn’t hold on from there and ended up falling 63-60. Hassan Drame was the leading scorer on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Daryl Banks added 13 points.

Over on the Marist side, they’ve had a choppy year so far and haven’t been able to win more than two consecutive games. The Foxes are just 2-4 in their last six games. The losses in that stretch have been to Iona, Rider, Siena and Fairfield.

In the Fairfield game, the Foxes went into the break with a 36-31 deficit. Marist outscored Fairfield 35-33 in the second half but it wasn’t enough in a 69-66 loss. Ricardo Wright was the team’s leading scorer on 19 points with three rebounds.

The Foxes are 7-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss and 14-5 ATS in the last 19 Wednesday games. The under is 5-2 in Marist’s last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Peacocks are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in the last seven after an ATS loss. St. Peter’s is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall.

PICK: I’m going to try St. Peter’s here. Probably staying away from this one, though; it should be a pretty tight matchup and I can see it going either way. The Peacocks haven’t scored all that great across this 4-1 stretch. They’ve hit more than 67 points just once (in overtime). That said, St. Peter’s has held opponents to 63 or fewer points in the other four games during that set. Marist can be a pretty good offensive team when they get going, but if St. Peter’s can stay with the flow of the game here I think they’ll be okay on a cover.
