Marquette vs DePaul Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/25/23

DePaul Blue Demons 

DePaul posted a 9-11 record during a sketchy 20-game run to start the year. The Blue Demons have hit the skids with losses to Georgetown, Marquette, UConn, Seton Hall, Villanova, St. John’s, Xavier and Butler since then. 

On Wednesday versus Butler, DePaul was up 30-24 going into the second half. The Blue Demons fell behind on a 35-28 run from there and lost 59-58 in a tough outcome. Umoja Gibson led the team with 25 points in the defeat. 

Marquette Golden Eagles

Over on the Marquette side, they managed a 15-5 record across their first 20 outings. The Eagles have since gone 7-1 with wins over Seton Hall, DePaul, Villanova, Butler, Georgetown, Xavier and Creighton alongside a loss to UConn. 

Matched up against Creighton on Tuesday, the Eagles were down 40-32 at the break. Marquette stormed back on a 41-31 run and won it 73-71. Kameron Jones led the way on 19 points, and both Oso Ighodaro and Tyler Kolek posted 18 points each.

I’ll stay with Marquette here. Probably not touching it, though. These teams are both on opposite trajectories; Marquette is 8-1 in their last nine games and DePaul hasn’t won since January 18 versus Xavier. The last time this matchup occurred back on January 28 at Wintrust Arena, Marquette posted an 89-69 victory thanks to a 56-37 first half. It took the Eagles a little while to get going but once they hit their stride there was no stopping Marquette. With this one being back at home the Golden Eagles will have a firm advantage and I like them to power out a dominant cover.
