Marquette vs Seton Hall 12/27/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Seton Hall Pirates and the Marquette Golden Eagles meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Fiserv Forum. Seton Hall is 7-6 so far this season. The Pirates are fresh off a loss to Xavier. Seton Hall has taken out Monmouth, Saint Peter’s, Wagner, Memphis, Lincoln PA, Rutgers and Drexel this year so far. The losses have come versus Iowa, Oklahoma, Siena, Kansas, Providence and Xavier. 

Last Tuesday versus Xavier, Seton Hall took a 37-34 deficit into the break. The Pirates kept the pace from there but eventually lost 73-70. Leading scorer Kadary Richmond put up 17 points with five assists and four rebounds. 

Over on the Marquette side, their wins have come versus Radford, Central Michigan, LIU, Georgia Tech, Chicago State, Baylor, NC Central, Notre Dame and Creighton. The losses have been versus Purdue, Mississippi State, Wisconsin and Providence. 

Matched up against Providence last week, the Eagles scored 38 points in the first half and 40 in the second but ultimately lost 103-98 in double-overtime. Leading the way was Tyler Kolek with 29 points and five rebounds. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with Marquette. The Eagles took a rough loss to a good Providence team last Tuesday. It’s not the end of the world, though. Marquette shot a nice 52 percent from the field in that one, however they were also out-rebounded 48-33. If the Eagles can rectify that in this matchup—and keep up their string of at least 69 points in six straight outings—I think they’ll be okay on a cover here. Seton Hall has 67 or fewer points in three of their last four but the Pirates won’t be an easy team to push around. It’ll be an interesting game.
