Marquette vs UConn 1/11/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UConn Huskies and the Marquette Golden Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Fiserv Forum. UConn is 15-2 overall this year and coming off a win over Creighton on Saturday. UConn rolled to a 14-0 record to start out the season, staying unbeaten from November 7 to December 31. The Huskies lost consecutive games to Xavier and Providence but were able to bounce back versus Creighton on Saturday. 

Matched up against Creighton, the Huskies were up 37-29 by halftime. UConn posted a 32-31 second-half run and took the game 69-60. Adama Sanogo led the way on 26 points with nine rebounds. 

Over on the Marquette side, they were 7-3 after 10 games with losses to Purdue, Mississippi State and Wisconsin. The Eagles are 6-1 since then, taking wins over Notre Dame, Creighton, Seton Hall, Villanova, St. John’s and Georgetown. 

In the Georgetown game, the Eagles trailed 36-34 after one half. Marquette posted a whopping 61 points in the second half and took the comeback win 95-73. Kameron Jones was the high man on 17 points and five boards. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Marquette here. The Eagles are on a nice run over this 7-1 stretch, and they’ve scored 68 or more points in 12 straight games. If they’re on point and able to get off to a good start, I can see Marquette making some noise in this one. As for UConn, they’ve hit 69 or more points in four of their last five games and should score pretty well in this one also. It’ll be a fun matchup, and I like Marquette to hang in there well enough to cover.
